This is Stu's Pot

When I was in high school I remember coming across a scheme that involved taking a penny, and turning it into a million by doubling and doubling it until you were rich. They made it sound so easy so I sent off for the free information pack, only to be invited to fork out for a book for further instructions.

Clearly it was a scheme to sell the book, and I bet not a single person who bought it made their million. My interest in the project ended there. But the general gist stuck in my mind ever since.

I've decided to try my own little game, which as you can see I'm calling "Stu's Pot". I'm going to start by investing a pound of my own money, and trying to see how far I can go with it. This is for my pleasure only, I don't expect to make a million, and I certainly won't be selling any books about it (unless I actually manage to make a million and have a story to tell).

It will be a slow process and I'll probably fail or give up before long, but I intend to use this blog to provide running commentary of my progress, and to discuss and tips and strategies I may learn along the away, as well as just general banter.

I hope you'll join me, and maybe have a go at playing, yourself.

For now I'm going to work on a draft of the rules and have a think about what to do with that first quid... If you have any ideas, feel free to leave a comment.
